Sigfox deploys its long-distance and energy-efficient communication solution via its LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) network, which is IoT-friendly.
By 2017, the Sigfox solution is deployed in 36 countries, including 17 with national coverage and covers 660 million people in a geographical area of 2.6 million km2.
For billions of devices to communicate, the deployment of the LPWA network does not do everything and it is also necessary that the embedded part of the communicating objects is properly implemented. In this context, Sigfox makes it mandatory for any device communicating on its network to be Sigfox certified.
The aim is to ensure that Sigfox connectivity is integrated into the partner devices with an adequate level of performance and to maintain a high quality of service on the Sigfox network thanks to the compliance of each device with Sigfox radio specifications (conducted and radiated).
This Sigfox certification program allows its partners to integrate Sigfox connectivity with the delivery of their library that implements their protocol, but also to evaluate the overall radiated performance of the product and evaluate the Quality of Service.
A Sigfox Partner, Emitech is recognized to be able to successfully carry out Sigfox ReadyTM certification. In particular, measures should be implemented to assess the radiation performance of the final product. These tests classify each piece of equipment as uplink and reflect the effectiveness of the radiated power emitted by the equipment.
It is to be noted that Emitech proposes to accomplish on this occasion the steps linked to the CE marking which is a prerequisite for any marketing in Europe. The proposed service can extend to taking into account the steps required for the various countries targeted by a marketing outside the European borders or to the personalisation of tests with a view to a customised qualification.
